The bike was just sold today for $5k and I have a 10% deposit so I expect we are done and the new owner (a local) can enjoy the bike shortly!

Timing is a slight nuisance as I still have the bike but it wouldn't be fair to ride it, the "new" one (ST4S) is in bits as I was doing some work ready for rego & riding, and now it means I won't get my act together in time to go to the Thunder Rally on Saturday. Oh well, next year then..... Better go get the reminder out for it anyway.......

I have rewritten the advert per below. Also now throwing the sports rack in with the bike and have put an alloy clutch basket in as someone came round to look and complained about the clutch rattle. Well now it is silky quiet again, wish I did this years ago! The new advert:

 Ducati M900 11/95 Monster Special - the ex has gone, the bike needs to also! This Bike is Soo Coool, there isn't another like it - and its worth much more than the now greatly reduced price. Easy to ride gently around town with power in reserve when needed up hills; 12 mth rego, serviced & ready to ride, no more to pay for 12 months - just go have some fun!! Ducati Performance Custom gauges; custom paint; bikini fairing; comfort lift bars; heated hand grips; Ducati orgasm sticker (refer to owner for details!), wide stable bar-end mirrors; electronic chain Pro-Oiler (fill every 5,000km so ride hassle free AND get triple the chain life!); Corbin custom seat; brand new cam drive belts; brand new electronic fuel pump (so always starts immediately after long periods in the shed); STM clutch slave cyl (for low lever effort); braided brake lines (for better brake feel); 1,200kms since full service; new rear tyre & near new front tyre; 1yo battery; Ventura sports rack; Ventura luggage rack; Ventura headlight protector; Staintune s/s exhaust; workshop manual on usb; rego to 30/07/13; This bike is in really sound mechanical condition and showing no sign of premature aging and is a fun, hassle free bike! Brand new clutch rod seals; Late model alloy clutch basket and also replaced clutch plates with those from a bike with 6,000km so it will last a long time (has the "low rattle" mod which greatly extends life also) and check out the cool open red clutch cover; Can arrange cheap “ride-it-to-ya” delivery; With the now super-bargain price snap it up while its still available!!

Well that seems to have done it, dropping the price that is! Now the serious buyers are lining up, 3 so far, and it will be dropped off at its new home on the weekend to meet its happy new owner - at least that is the plan. Thomas, who is in his late 20's and has been riding Harleys for a while, now wants a real bike - and boy is he gunna get one!

Stuffit, I am a bit surprised at the lack of enquiries for this fabulous bike, either from here or www.bikesales.com.au, and I listed it on Gumtree a few days ago (which seems to be a really effective way to get spam sms's on your mobile phone!).

So I'm guessing the problem must be about the price because it sure can't be about the bike, the bike is a beauty and I expect it to stay like that for a very long time.

New price: $4,950 ride away, no more to pay for 12 months - just go have some fun!

Do you want to know the real reason it needs to go? Because Frances and I gave the marriage thing a red hot go but have decided we are not as compatible as we thought we were, so we are parting friends (really) and getting on with our lives. Sad, surprising, but as simple as that! Which by the way is why I totally forgot to get out the last ride reminder - because I totally forgot it!

 Ducati M900 11/95 Monster Special - STOP PRESS: $1,000 PRICE REDUCTION, I Need the $!! However I have just paid the rego so it has 12 months now to 30/07/13. I have also cleaned the bike up properly now so here are some new photos - the Air Hawk seat is now not included as Frances has nicked it to stick on the VT750S - apparently those cruisers aren't so comfortable after all, and anyway I find the Corbin seat perfectly comfortable on long trips.

A minor correction to the earlier post, as many may know "Panorkle"'s real name is Peter Pusztai (NSW DOC, Sydney) and he is a thorough gentleman that does excellent quality customisation / restoration work on all kinds of vehicles. This bike is a long way from that fairly drab looking original model as a result of that fine fellow's efforts. Plus of course I have done "the engineering thing" on it to make it an all round nicer bike to live with. The advert in bikesales.com appears below with a little more text since I hit the limit there! I don't mind saying you will beat me down to $5,500 ride away, but offer any lower and I'm happy to wait 'til spring - when the price may go back up as there will be more people in the market and the bike is worth more.

Set up to look good on and go touring without hassle, 12 mth rego, serviced & ready to ride, you will love this bike! Ducati Performance Custom gauges; custom paint; bikini fairing; comfort lift bars; heated hand grips; Ducati orgasm sticker (refer to owner for details!), wide stable bar-end mirrors so you can easily see who you're leaving behind up hills!; electronic chain Pro-Oiler (fill every 5,000km so ride hassle free AND get triple the chain life!);

Corbin seat; brand new cam drive belts; brand new electronic fuel pump (so always starts immediately after long periods in the shed); STM clutch slave cyl (for low lever effort); braided brake lines (for better brake feel); 1,200kms since full service; new rear tyre & near new front tyre; 1yo battery; Ventura luggage rack (Rally bag illustrated not included); Ventura headlight protector; Staintune s/s exhaust; workshop manual (and other useful riding and maintenance info) on usb; original owners manual and manuals on all equipment fitted.

rego to 30/07/13; 77,000km young and is a fun, hassle free bike! (Explanation: Ducatis typically get 150,000km plus before top end work is required to reduce oil consumption. This bike is in really sound mechanical condition and showing no sign of premature aging) Brand new clutch rod seals and also replaced clutch plates with those from a bike with 6,000km so it will last a long time (has the "low rattle" mod which greatly extends life also) and check out the cool open red clutch cover; Can arrange cheap “ride-it-to-ya” delivery; Note: the bike has just had a good going over to sort out any minor issues - I did this as I am well known and respected in the Ducati community and want to KNOW that the next owner is getting a good bike that is exactly what it appears to be. The bike is being sold because my wife (the main rider and in the first pic) bought a cruiser due to unrelated issues and a bike has to go, sadly it is this one - with the now super-bargain price snap it up while its still available!

As many know, when I killed off the last ST4S at Patonga, Frances decided I could ride the Monster and she would get a cruiser - which she felt was more her style after some 30,000km on the Monster. Well I have just bought another ST4S, so it is time for the Monster to have a new home. It has been a great bike for us, no fuss and always performs well. However, because I want to make sure that the reliable performance continues for the next owner, I have just gone to some trouble to fix up the coupla small niggling things that I hadn't got around to as they were "small potatoes", like fitting the new cam belts I had been putting off installing because there was still no sign of aging in the originals.

Actually it is better than "as new" in some regards now, and it is a cool custom jobbie (done originally by Peter Panorkle of NSWDOC) and enhanced by my efforts to make it a dream to live with in the ease of ownership / rideability dept! eg getting rid of the standard Ducati fuel pump and fitting an electronic one means it will start instantly even after weeks of inattention - whereas the original Ducati vacuum pump system had to be cranked for ages to replace the evaporated fuel in the carbies and it was always a lottery whether it started or went flat first, not any more with this bike! Or other items like the handlebars have risers and a slight pullback style for ride-all-day comfort. And heated grips to extend the riding season, plus an automatic chain oiler so its nothing to hassle you to do at your destination, just step off and have a shower - step back on, fuel in and do it all again tomorrow! Here are the details (from the www.bikesales.com.au advert):

This mototrcycle is a Ducati M900 Monster, plated 11/95, you will love this bike! It has Ducati Performance Custom gauges; custom paint; bikini fairing; comfort lift bars; heated hand grips; Ducati orgasm sticker (refer to owner for details!), wide stable bar-end mirrors so you can easily see who you're leaving behind up hills; electronic chain Pro-Oiler (fill every 5,000km so ride hassle free AND get triple the chain life!); Corbin seat (and an Air Hawk premium seat cushion for a happy bottom on long rides); new cam drive belts; new electronic fuel pump (so always starts immediately after long periods in the shed); STM clutch slave cyl (for low lever effort); braided brake lines (for better brake feel); 1,200kms since full service; new rear tyre & near new front tyre; 1yo battery; Ventura luggage & Sport racks; headlight protector; Staintune s/s exhaust; workshop manual on usb; rego 30/07/12; 77,000km young and is a fun, hassle free bike! Just fitted new clutch rod seals and a clutch from a bike with 16,000km so it will last a fair while (has the "low rattle" mod which greatly extends life also) and check out the cool open red clutch cover; Can arrange cheap “ride-it-to-ya” delivery; $6,250 ono; ph: 0414 706 875; email: vince at hunterdog. org. au

Note the rego does run out 30/07/12 and I have a pink slip, but of course I don't know who is even thinking of buying a bike in the middle of winter! If it doesn't sell on account of nobody looking I will let it run out of rego and register the ST4S instead as I KNOW it is easy to get a bike like this blue slipped so it can be registered for 12 months from whenever the new owner wants to do it. Obviously there is also an option to just renew it from the due date, its your call.......
